As a statewide effort, we are working to reach all Arizonans with our message about the importance of making education the top priority in our state. A: Expect More Arizona is important because Arizona and its students deserve the best education system possible. Data indicates that our students are falling behind their national and international peers in academic performance and degree attainment. We need all Arizonans to be actively involved in strengthening education in our state in order to make sure our students graduate from high school with the skills and knowledge necessary to compete, contribute and succeed in a 21st Century global economy.
A: Expect More Arizona’s goal is to create a statewide movement of Arizonans who value education as our state’s top priority and who are actively engaged in strengthening the entire continuum—from birth to career. We intend to maintain a consistent, statewide presence over several years in order to:
- Build public support of education as our state’s top priority;
- Educate Arizonans about the education continuum and the inter-connectedness of each stage of education;
- Increase public awareness of the issues affecting education in Arizona and their impact on individuals, local communities and our state;
- Provide Arizonans with opportunities to be actively involved in strengthening education in our state; and
- Mobilize Arizonans to support people, programs and policies supportive of education.
A: As a public-private partnership, Expect More Arizona seeks funding from individuals, organizations and businesses throughout Arizona. The initial funding for the statewide effort has been provided by a group of private funders including First Things First, Helios Education Foundation, Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust, Rodel Charitable Foundation of Arizona, Arizona Community Foundation and Arizona State University. Representatives from each of these organizations form Expect More Arizona’s Oversight Board, which provides strategic direction and fiscal oversight for the public-private partnership. The Arizona Community Foundation is the fiscal agent for the partnership. We are also continuously cultivating strategic partnerships across the state in order to leverage our limited resources, solicit in-kind support and increase our exposure through a variety of distribution channels, venues and media.

A: The name “Expect More Arizona”, its logo and tagline were developed to convey two important messages:
- As Arizonans we must “expect more” of ourselves; our students, educators and schools; government, business and community leaders; and each other in order to make our entire education system is the best it can be - from birth through career.
- Our education system is an interconnected continuum spanning Early Learning, K-12 and Postsecondary education. Each stage is critically important, laying the foundation for the next, and ultimately leading to individuals graduating with the skills to compete, contribute and succeed in a 21st Century global economy.
