Arizona's Students Are In A Race For The Best Jobs And Quality Of Life. It's Up To All Of Us To Help Them Succeed.
In Arizona, we are are facing the same issues and opportunities within education that we face as a nation. Our students are performing below their international peers. As a result, we must expect more of ourselves, of our students and of our education system overall. The success of our students, educators and state will require all of us to get actively involved in strengthening and supporting education.
- Only 24% of Arizona 4th and 8th graders demonstrate proficiency in reading.
- Arizona is ranked 38th in the nation for 8th graders who are proficient in math.
- Arizona is frequently cited as having one of the highest high school dropout rates in the nation.
- Arizona is ranked 50th in the nation for high school graduates who go directly to college.
- Fewer than half of our public high school graduates qualify academically to enroll in public universities.
- For every 100 ninth graders in Arizona, only 17% will graduate from college on time.
- Arizona is ranked 49th in the nation for per student investment in K-12 education.
